Iowa Lakes Finishes 8th in Lincoln

The Iowa Lakes women's golf team finished up their two day Concordia Bulldog Invite with a second round of 353, ending up with an 8th place finish in the fifteen team field. Leading the way for the Lakers in cold, windy conditions was Kelly Winter with an 84 and a two day total of 166, good enough for a T-14 finish. Iowa Lakes started the day in a tie for fifth place with Briar Cliff University and Dakota Wesleyan University.

"Today was a cold spring round for the team and it was tough for us to get our footing to make a move" said Iowa Lakes golf coach Jarvis Weber when asked about the round. "We continue to show toughness and resilience in the face of adversity, and I was proud of the ladies on how they fought through their rounds today."

Quickly behind Winter was freshman Abby Gaudian who bounced back from a slow first round and posted another personal best with a day two 85, which moved her up to a T-37 finish from a 50th place finish after day one.

"Abby continues to impress. She found some nerves day one but settled in quickly and bounced back with a great round today. She will continue to get better and post even lower scores this year, I'm sure of it."

Isabella Santistevan was a steady force over the two days and posted two rounds of 86 and 88, finishing in 31st individually; four shots ahead of teammate Gretchen Hofstad with a two day total of 178. Rounding out the team was Somer Hudson with two day total of 190, good enough for a T-62 finish in the 84 player field.

"This team has all of the pieces they need to make a lot of noise in the regional tournament. We keep showing flashes of our potential, and you combine that with this teams hard work and dedication, it is only a matter of time before it all comes together." added Coach Weber.

The Lakers are set to tee it up next week at The Ridge in Sioux Center, Iowa for the Dordt Invite on April 15th and 16th.
