Lady Lakers in Third at Dordt

The Lakers find themselves sitting in third place after round one of the Dordt Spring Invite at The Ridge Golf Club in Sioux Center, Iowa. Iowa Lakes posted a season best round of 333, seven shots back of Briar Cliff University for second place. The Lakers had a balanced team approach with Gretchen Hofstad and Kelly Winter leading the way with a pair of 82's. 

"Today was a great step forward for our entire team" said Iowa Lakes golf coach Jarvis Weber. "We are starting to put more pieces together and seeing some results. We still have plenty more in the tank, and hopefully we keep moving forward with the extra bit of confidence we gained today".

Outside of Kelly and Gretchen, freshman Isabella Santistevan posted a new college tournament best round of 83.

"Izzy has been putting in a ton of work since she got to Iowa Lakes. She is relentless and wants to improve every single day and she has taken some big steps this year." added Coach Weber. "She has incredible potential and I am very proud of how far she has come, but she has so much more to offer. I have no doubt she won't continue to break personal records as we keep going."

Other scores for the Lakers were Abby Gaudian with an 86 and Somer Hudson with a 98. Alexis Halbach carded a 106 as an individual.

"We have a great chance to build a ton of momentum going into regionals next week. Another solid day tomorrow and we'll be in a great position to achieve some of our goals we set out at the beginning of the year."

The Lakers tee it up tomorrow for round two at the The Ridge at 12:00PM.
