Iowa Lakes Women’s Golf Earns Post Season Honors

The ICCAC announced the women's all-region golf teams, and Iowa Lakes was able to award four golfers to the all-region teams.

"This has been one the best groups to be around on a daily basis, especially given what this year and the circumstances surrounding it," said Iowa Lakes golf coach Jarvis Weber. "I am extremely excited to announce that we have four ladies being named to our All-Region team. They are all very deserving and have worked extremely hard to get to where they are today."

Isabella Santistevan –All-Region 1st Team

Isabella is a freshman from Bigfork, Montana and finished 5th at the Region XI Championship and was awarded 1st-Team All-Region. She finished the regular season ranked 79th in the country and was awarded the ICCAC Player of the Week in the spring season.

"Isabella is a worker. She wants to be great and has a wonderfully infectious positive attitude that helps this team every day. She is a big piece to our team culture and her being named to 1st Team is fitting for the work she has put in. Extremely proud of her season this year and cannot wait to see where she goes from here moving as a leader next year for this program," commented Coach Weber.

Kelly Winter – All-Region 2nd Team

Kelly is a sophomore from Earlville, Iowa competing in her first region championship due to COVID removing her freshman spring campaign. Kelly finished t-10th in the Region XI Championship and is currently ranked 67th in the country. She was named an ICCAC Player of the Week in the fall.

"Kelly is the heart and soul of this team. She is our captain and our leader. Her work ethic and attitude drives this team every day to be better and get better. Without her leadership, I am not sure where this team would be. She has big goals and qualifying for nationals this year after missing out on the chance last year was one of them. Very excited for her to reach and obtain that goal this year. I know she has a bright future ahead of her and she will represent this team well down in Florida next week," commented Coach Weber.

Abby Gaudian – All-Region 2nd Team

Abby is a freshman from Hudson, Iowa who finished in a t-10th with teammate Kelly Winter at the Region XI Championship. Abby is currently ranked 81st in the country. She was named an ICCAC Player of the Week this spring.

"Abby brings a little different mentality to the team than her teammates. She is a thinker, and knows exactly what she needs to do to get to where she wants to be. Luckily for her, she is also extremely driven and does not settle until she is satisfied. That grit and determination got her to nationals this year and has really opened the door for this team. I look forward to her leading this program next year and pushing her teammates to match her drive." commented Coach Weber.

Gretchen Hofstad – All-Region Honorable Mention

Gretchen is a local standout from Emmetsburg, Iowa competing in her first year at Iowa Lakes. She is currently ranked 79th in the country along with teammate Isabella Santistevan, and finished 14th at the Region XI Championship. She was named an ICCAC Player of the Week in the fall.

"Gretchen is a competitor. She always wants to bring her best, and that brought out the best in her teammates as well. She learned quickly that you can't always bring your best every day, so she learned how to grind and how to fight to get what she aimed for. At regionals, she wasn't playing her A game, but she fought to achieve a goal of qualifying for nationals. That mentality is infectious and helped her teammates as well, and I couldn't be prouder of the way she got through to nationals," commented Coach Weber.
