The Lakers go 3-1 on the weekend

The Lakers traveled to Malvern, Arkansas to face Arkansas State University- Three Rivers in a 3-game series, with the Lakers winning the series 2-1. In the first game the lakers scored 14 runs off 19 hits. Leading the way for the Lakers was freshman Johnny Marcos, who had 2 home runs and 5 RBI's. Freshman Boyd Jones also added 5 hits, one being a homerun, and 6 RBI's. Freshman Carson Riggs had 2 hits with 2 RBI's. Freshmen Matt Risser and Boyd Jones both had a triple, and Freshman Nick Ryun had a double and 3 walks. On the bump for the Lakers was sophomore Mason Hicks. Hicks went 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, 3 runs, 2 earned runs, 4 walks and 8 strikeouts. Freshman Adam Timm came in as relief and went 2 innings, allowing 2 hits, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts, holding the Eagles scoreless in his 2 innings of work. The Lakers won game one 14-3.

In game 2 the Lakers took the lead early but came up short falling to the Eagles 3-4 in 10 innings. Leading the way for the lakers offense was Nick Ryun, with 3 hits. Boyd Jones and Elkin Ortiz both had 2 hits, and both had a double. Johnny Marcos also added a hit. Sophomores Beau Dalian and Elkin Ortiz (2) had 3 RBIs for the Lakers. Sophomore Diego Torano got the start for game 2 and threw 6.2 innings allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Sophomore Baxter Heino threw 2.1 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 run, 1 HBP and had 2 strikeouts.

In game 3 the lakers had 14 hits and 10 runs, leading them to a 10-8 victory over the Eagles. Freshmen Nick Ryun, Johnny Marcos, Matt Risser, Carson Riggs and sophomore Keyber Delgado all had 2 hits apiece. Freshmen Boyd Jones, Blake Evans, Jace Embry, and sophomore Joel Prpic all had 1 hit for the lakers. Risser (2B), Riggs(2B), and Prpic(3B) all had extra base hits. Nick Ryun added a homerun and had an RBI. Johnny Marcos had an RBI, Matt Risser had 4 RBIs, and Carson Riggs had 2 RBIs in the Laker victory. Freshman Aaron Terpstra got the start for the lakers throwing 4.1 innings and allowing 8 hits, 4 runs, 2 earned runs, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts. Freshman Reggie York V threw 1.1 innings, allowing 2 hits, 4 runs, 1 earned run, 1 walk and 1 strikeout. Getting the win on the mound was sophomore Yahir Estrada who threw 2.1 innings allowing no hits, no runs, no walks, and had 4 strikeouts.

In the final game of their Arkansas trip, the Lakers traveled to Clarksville to face University of the Ozarks JV. The Lakers came out victorious, winning 15-13. Leading the way for the Lakers was freshman Boyd Jones with 4 hits. Sophomores Beau Dalian, Keyber Delgado, and freshman Nick Ryun each had a hit. Dalian had a home run and 2 RBIs. Jones had 4 RBI's, Nick Ryun, Spencer Kober, Keyber Delgado, and Joel Prpic all had an RBI apiece.

The Lakers will be back in action on Monday March 17th in Madison, SD against Dakota State University JV. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
