Laker Men Battle Wind at Fort Dodge Country Club

Iowa Central Community College hosted a two-day men's and women's invitational at Fort Dodge Country Club. The highly competitive tournament featured several 4-year schools along with three JUCO programs that are currently ranked top 15 in D2. The dry and windy conditions added some difficulty to both days. Six Laker men competed over the weekend and ended with a 9th-place finish out of 12. Janlo Zaayman led the way for the Lakers with a T-4th for the tournament (+4).  Breyden Johnson competed as an individual for the Lakers and carded 89-88 for the tournament.

"On Friday, our mental composure and attitudes had more to do with the poor performance than the weather. In those conditions, bogey was a respectable score on several holes. Instead of staying within each shot and having short-term memory, we hung our heads and let frustrations dictate our decisions. The guys did a good job of forgetting about Friday's round and coming in with a much better attitude. I thought Saturday played slightly tougher, so the scores don't necessarily reflect the difference, but I was very pleased with how we battled," said Coach Myers. "Janlo showed what he's truly capable of this weekend. It's great to see him put it together and play to his strengths. The sky is the limit for Janlo and if the rest of the guys around him continue to improve, we will be in good shape for regionals."

The Lakers travel to Dike, IA, for an 18-hole tournament hosted by Hawkeye CC on April 22nd.
