Laker Men Handle Windy Day

Iowa Lakes sent six men down to Dike, Iowa, to compete in the Redtail Shootout that Hawkeye Community College hosted. With winds gusting around 30 MPH, Fox Ridge Golf Course showed how tough it can play. The varsity lineup finished 4th overall and only 4 strokes behind a solo second-place finish. Janlo Zaayman led the way with an impressive 75 (+3) for his second top-5 finish in a row. Raul Jerez Martin carded a 79 (+7), earning him a 10th-place finish.

"These conditions felt a lot like regionals last spring. Janlo is playing really well for us and our guys are starting to rally around him. We are moving in the right direction. We have a 36-hole tournament in Boone, IA that should be a good chance to prove the progress we've made", said Coach Myers. "We battle some really tough conditions so we can't afford to get in our own way. The guys did a great job keeping calm and focused today. We're starting to realize that we are good enough to compete in these events. I'm excited to see how the season shakes out!"
