Taking Aim: Iowa Lakes Coach Rick Kalsow Scores Big in National Shooting Contest

(Emmetsburg, Iowa) In a strong display of shooting skills, Iowa Lakes Community College's Head Sports Shooting Coach, Rick Kalsow, clinched the title of Senior Veteran Runner Up at the Spring Grand American event held by the Tucson Trap and Skeet Club in Tucson, AZ on March 1, 2024.

The Spring Grand American event drew participation from 513 shooters, including 208 contenders in the Senior Veteran category, which is open to individuals aged 70 years and up. Kalsow displayed skill and precision, recording an outstanding score of 95x100 in the handicap event earning a ½ yard punch to the 22-yard line.

In addition to his personal achievements, Kalsow not only serves as the Head Coach of the Iowa Lakes Community College Sports Shooting Team, but also as the Head Coach of the Okoboji High School Trap Team and President of the Twin Forks Trap and Skeet Club.

Kalsow is actively recruiting skilled trap shooters to join the Iowa Lakes team. Both male and female athletes have the chance to secure scholarships, providing an avenue for talented individuals to continue sports shooting while pursuing their education.
