Laker Women Compete at Augustana Invite

The Iowa Lakes Women prepared for their upcoming semester-ending meet in Rochester with an important final tune-up at the Augustana Invite. Unfortunately, illness and injuries were the topic of the weekend.  Maggie Jackson, who has been showing steady improvement since joining the team was sidelined for much of the meet by illness.  Jackson struggled through her first few events before having to drop out of the meet altogether. This not only affected her individual events, but also the team's remaining relays.  Juliana Villa Rodriguez and Mavi Valentin struggled with injuries all weekend which kept them from swimming their typical events.  Liz Crewe-Brown was the bright spot with tough swims in the 200 and 400 IM's, and 100 and 200 backstrokes.  Coach Peters discussed the weekend struggles, "We knew the Rochester would be far more important than this weekend so we made conscious decisions to limit races and get the women healthy and ready for the more important meet in two weeks.  It was disheartening because this group works so hard and doesn't like to back down from any challenge."
