Salazar Receives ICCAC Player of the Week Honors

Iowa Lakes Community College softball player, Kacie Salazar, has been recognized as last week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week.

Salazar had this to say, "I am pleased to be announced as player of the week. I work very hard and it is nice to be recognized for my efforts and progress throughout this game that I love."

Salazar is a sophomore shortstop from Bakersfield, California. She is the second player this year to receive this award this season. She was selected for this award based on games played during the week of April 13-29. Salazar produced big numbers for the Lakers in their 6-4 week.

During the week, Salazar had 14 hits, giving her a .458 batting average. She had 3 doubles and 4homeruns, including a grand slam. During the ten games, Salazar drove in 11 runs and crossed the plate 9 times herself.

On the season, Salazar is batting .378 with a slugging percentage of .778. She has 51 hits, including 18 doubles and a team leading 12 homeruns. She has batted in 52 of her teammates, while scoring 36 runs herself.

Larson had this to say, "I am so proud of Kacie for receiving this award. This last week was important for us in the standings and Kacie showed up and led her team offensively. She had a big week and I cannot wait to see how this continues into the playoffs. "
