Lakers Season Ends After Missing 54 Hole Cut

The Iowa Lakes women's golf team saw their season come to end after missing a 54 hole cut line that was created due to limited playing time with back-to-back days of weather delays in rounds two and three. In order to ensure the completion of the tournament, the top 15 teams and any player in the top 24 made the cut for day four. The Lakers posted a team score of 398 and fell from 16th to 17th after round three, missing the cut line by 29 shots.

"This was just not our week" said Iowa Lakes women's golf coach Jarvis Weber. "We will take a ton of positives from this week and learn as much as we can, but ultimately it was just unfortunate that we did not play well enough for the first three days to get that last chance to show what we were capable of. This team is a lot better than what they showed this week, and I could not be more proud of them this season."

Freshman Abby Gaudian led the Lakers with a three rounds of 105-88-98 with a total of 291. Closely behind was freshman Isabella Santistevan with a three day total of 293 and splits of 98-92-103. Sophomore Kelly Winter also posted 293 with rounds of 95-99-99. Gretchen Hofstad would finish with a total of 305 with rounds of 108-99-98.

"This was an incredible group to be around all year and I was extremely happy for them that we got this last week together. It may not have ended the way we wanted, but everybody will learn from it and we'll be back for next year stronger than ever. I know I learned a lot from this and will do a better job getting this team prepared for a deep run next year. I am extremely proud of this group and cannot wait for them to lead this program to the next chapter next season."

The Lakers finished the NJCAA Women's Golf Championship in 17th place with a three day total of 1153.
