San Pedro Awarded ICCAC and NJCAA Player of the Week

Iowa Lakes Community College softball player, Leilani San Pedro, has been recognized as last week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week and National Junior College Athletic Association Player of teh Week.

San Pedro had this to say, "It is an honor to receive that ICCAC Player of the Week! This is truly a team award though, as without my teammates I would not have been able to accomplish what I did this last week. I am super excited to continue to play next to my teammates and see what more we can accomplish together."

San Pedro, is a sophomore outfield/shortstop from Redlands, California. She is the first Iowa Lakes Softball player to receive this award this season. She was selected for this award based on games played during the week of March 12-18. San Pedro produced big numbers for the Lakers during their 6-6 week in Clermont, Florida.

During the week, San Pedro racked up 18 hits, giving her a .545 batting average. She had 4 doubles, 1 triple, and 5 homeruns, including a grand slam. During the 10 games, San Pedro drove in 19 runs and crossed the plate 21 times herself. She swiped 7 bases and was walked 7 times.

Her best game of the week came against the Lakers 9-6 victory over Madison College. San Pedro was a perfect 3-3 with four runs scored, four runs batted in, two walks, and a grand slam.

On the season, San Pedro is batting .446 with an on-base percentage of .551. She has 25 hits, including 5 doubles, 1 triple, and 5 homeruns. She has batted in 24 runs, while crossing the plate 24 times herself. San Pedro has also swiped 12 bases on the season.

Larson had this to say, "I am so proud of Leilani for receiving this award. She comes in every day with a smile on her face and the willingness to work hard. She has really proven herself here at Iowa Lakes as an elite player in the conference and it will be fun to see what more she can accomplish."
