Lakers Drop Two Against Indian Hills

Iowa Lakes Community College Softball dropped two games to Division I Junior College, Indian Hills, Wednesday, March 28th. The first game was 13-1 and the second was 9-0. The Lakers are now 9-11 overall. They will travel to Creston, IA on Friday, March 30th, to take on conference foe Ellsworth Community College at 2:00 and 4:00 PM.

Game One: IHCC 13, ILCC 1 (5 innings)

Iowa Lakes had not played a game since spring break and it showed. The Lakers mustered up just one hit, while allowing twelve in game one.​

The Lakers started off the game with a leadoff walk from Julia Sullwold. Desiree Lopez struck out and Sullwold was caught stealing to clear the bases with two outs. Leilani San Pedro and Kacie Salazar each drew a walk, before San Pedro scored on a single from Kaitlin Walsh. Iowa Lakes took the early 1-0 lead.

Iowa Lakes and Indian Hills were each held scoreless until the bottom of the third inning, when Indian Hills scored five runs. They did this on five hits and one Laker error. Indian Hills scored another eight runs in the bottom of the fourth on six hits.

Yasmine Nix took the loss for the Lakers. She allowed thirteen runs, twelve earned, on twelve hits and two walks. Julia Sullwold and Kailtin Walsh each had a hit at the plate.

Game Two: IHCC 9, ILCC 0 (5 innings)

Game two went very similar as game one for the Lakers. Indian Hills scored in each of the four innings they batted in. They scored two in the first on five hits, one in the second on one hit, two in the third on one hit and one error, and four in the fourth on three hits and one error.

Bibiana Rosales took the loss for the Lakers. She allowed nine runs, seven earned, on ten hits, five walks, and two strikeouts. Julia Sullwold had the lone hit for the Lakers.
