Indian Hills Takes Two From Lakers

The Iowa Lakes Softball team took two losses to #11 Division I Indian Hills Community College. Strong hitting by the Warriors and errors by the Lakers, made the games out of reach for Iowa Lakes. The Lakers dopped game one 10-1 and game two 13-2. The Lakers are now 1-5 on the season and 1-3 in conference play.

Game One: IHCC 10, ILCC 1

The Warriors struck first in the top of the second. They scored two runs on a Laker error and an Indian Hills homerun.

The score remained 2-0 until the Lakers got one back in the bottom of the third. Amanda Franke led off the inning with a single to center. Lexi Chase smashed the first pitch she saw to the right center fence and Franke quickly scampered around the bases to score. The Warriors ended the threat that inning by getting the next three Laker batters out.

Indian Hills mounted a lead in the top of the fourth inning. They led off the inning with a homerun to go up 3-1. That was followed by a single and a Laker error to put two runners on. Chase got the next two batters to fly out and hit into a fielder's choice. The next Indian Hills batter singled to left, but Kiley Hill ended the inning by throwing a Warrior player out at the plate. Indian Hills took a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the fourth.

The Warriors scored another two runs in the top of the fifth on three hits, one walk, and a passed ball. They put up another two runs in the sixth on two hits and two errors and another two runs in the top of the seventh on three hits.

Lexi Chase took the loss for the Lakers. She gave up ten runs, four earned on twelve hits, one walk, and six strikeouts. Lexi Chase, Eliya Johnson, Myah Ehlenfeldt, and Amanda Franke each had a hit in the game.

They did this on two hits, one error, four walks, and one hit by pitch. The Warriors added three more runs in the top of the sixth on two hits, two walks, and one error.

Iowa Lakes tried to put something together in the bottom of the sixth. Franke led off the inning taking a pitch and advanced to second on a walk to Chase. Kailey Maksim hit a sacrifice fly to right to advance both runners. Emma Kral then stepped up to the plate and grounded out to short, scoring Franke. Allie McCabe followed with a single to score Chase and the final Laker run of the game.
