Lakers fall at Home

The Lakers hosted the Bears from DMACC this past weekend. Two games were played on Saturday, and the final game of the series was pushed to Monday afternoon, due to weather forecasts on Sunday.

In game 1, the lakers had 5 hits and 3 runs, which just wasn't enough to match the bats of the Bears. Sophomore JJ Schubert hit in the only 3 runs for the lakers with a 3-run blast. The Lakers had 4 stolen bases in game 1. Starting on the mound for the Lakers was Mason Hicks. Hicks went 5 innings and had 6 strikeouts.

In game 2 the Lakers found a little bit of life with 2 Lakers hitting homeruns, and 1 hitting a triple. JJ Schubert launched his second of the day, and Cesar Lam added one. Lam also had a triple and 3 RBIs. On the mound for the Lakers in game 2 was freshman Ty Thomson. Ty went 6 innings, with 9 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk, and 10 strikeouts.

In game 3 the Lakers kept it within reach but fell 3 runs short. The Lakers only had 3 hits in the series finale, which only accounted for 1 run. Picking up the lone RBI, was JJ Schubert. On the mound for the Lakers was Diego Gonzalez. Gonzalez went 6 innings and only allowed 1 earned run, while tossing 7 strikeouts. Coming in for relief was JT Roy, who threw 3 innings and gave up 2 hits, and tossed 4 strikeouts.

The Lakers are back in action Friday May 3rd at Roosevelt Field in Mason City. First pitch of the weekend series is scheduled for 1pm.
