Kaitlyn DuChateau Named Player of the Week

Iowa Lakes Community College softball player, Kaitlyn DuChateau, has been recognized as last week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week. This is due to her outstanding play between March 10th– March 16th, when the Lakers went 7-1. DuChateau is the second Laker to receive this award this season.

DuChateau had this to say about receiving the award, "I am extremely grateful and blessed to have received this award and I am honored that I was considered for this. Being the second Laker to receive this award shows our hard work is paying off and will hopefully continue to help pave the way for the team for this season."

At the plate, DuChateau went 17-30, earning her a .566 batting average. This included three doubles and five home runs. DuChateau drove in twenty-one RBIs, scored seventeen runs, and showcased her speed by stealing three bases. She has a twenty-game hitting streak, and she has only not reached base in one game that she played this season. DuChateau is currently ranked first in the conference for runs batted in (47), second in home runs (9), and fourth in batting average (.486). She is fifth in the NJCAA in runs batted in.

DuChateau's week was highlighted in the Lakers' 14-6, six-inning win over SUNY Niagara. In the game, she was 4-5 with seven runs batted in, three runs scored, two doubles, one home run, and a stolen base.

On the season, DuChateau is batting .486 with a .518 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage. She has racked up 34 hits, including five doubles, two triples, and nine home runs. DuChateau has drove in 47 of her teammates while crossing the plate 33 times herself.
