Iowa Lakes Claims 1st Win of Spring Season

The Iowa Lakes men's golf team took to the course on Thursday not getting much time outside due to the weather. With only one other tournament under their belt, getting a team win was a huge moral boost according to Coach Weber.

"This has been a very interesting spring, to say the least. Just getting out on the range and out on a course was a great feeling, let alone coming out two shots ahead of DMACC. Everybody has been getting frustrated and anxious with this season thus far, and rightfully so. I have been challenging them all season to stay in the moment and stay focused and I couldn't be happier that they were able to squeak out a win. This will go a long way in calming their nerves and helping them realise that all of their hard work is not for nothing."

The Lakers were led by Aaron James who came back from a rough first tournament to drop 13 strokes and post a five over par 76. James was quickly followed by Cameron Maxwell with a 77, Sterling McIlravy with a 79, Carlton Rahn with an 80, and Morgan Edwards with an 82.

Coach Weber had this to add about his players; "The guys have been making slow but steady progress and making some huge improvements in a short amount of time with little access to a course. Aaron bounced back in a big way and Cam is showing that he will be a huge piece of this teams goal at regionals. I have no doubt that everybody will find their rhythm this season and this team will start to see some great results."

The Lakers will look to keep improving next week at the Simpson Spring Invite at The Legacy Golf Club in Norwalk, Iowa on Tuesday, April 10th.
