Laker Men Spring Season Opener

Laker Men Spring Season Opener

Laker Men opened the spring season in Milan, Illinois, at Pinnacle Country Club. Black Hawk College hosted 13 schools on April 5th. The tournament field featured three teams that competed in the 2023 National Tournament.

DMACC, ranked #4 nationally, took home 1st place as a team. Our Lakers finished 6th place and were 15 strokes from a T-3 finish.

Raul Jerez Martin made his debut for the Lakers with a T-10 finish.

"This fall we needed a lot of growth in order to compete in our region. Course management and distance control were consistent battles for us in every tournament. Over the winter our guys really bought in. I've noticed a dramatic improvement in the areas we needed it most. I'm very pleased with our progress. There are 6 teams in our region that are ranked in the top 16 nationally with 2 of them being in the top 5. We are going to have to really dial it in over this next month in order to have a shot at repeating last year's success" said Coach Myers. "Raul played very solid. As a transfer student, he hasn't had a competitive college round in quite some time. So for him to come out and place T-10 proves what kind of potential he has. As a team, we didn't have the scores we hoped for today but I'm confident we will come out Monday and post some solid scores."

Laker Men travel to Waterloo, IA on April 8th for the Regional Preview.
