Iowa Lakes Finishes in 4th at Iowa Central

The Iowa Lakes men's golf team finished in fourth place at the Iowa Central Spring Invitational this weekend at the Fort Dodge Country Club. The Lakers posted a first day total of 300, which was seven shots out of the lead and were sitting in second after day one. With a day two score of 310, the Lakers slipped down to fourth place, one shot out of third and seven out of second.

"I think the guys did a lot of really good things and are making huge strides towards playing to their true potential", said Coach Weber when asked about his team. "These guys have all of the physical tools needed to make a good run at nationals, but right now it is all about getting in the right mental state and honestly, getting out of their own way."

Leading the way for Iowa Lakes was sophomore Morgan Edwards who posted a two day total of three over par 145, which was good enough for a runner-up finish in a sixty-seven person tournament. Other scores for the Lakers were Trace Jacobson posting 154, Carlton Rahn 155, Cameron Maxwell 156, and Joey Murphy 169. Other scores for the Lakers who were playing as individuals were Aaron James at 148, Luke Sladek 162, Addison Bahr 167, and Nolan King 182. 

"There was a lot of progress made this weekend by everybody on the roster, and I truly hope that this will catapult them forward. Once these guys figure out to to get out of their own way and play simple, patient golf and trust themselves, they will be a true threat in the this conference for a national tournament bid come May."

The 20th ranked Lakers have one more tournament on the docket scheduled for Monday, April 22nd at Emerald Hills Golf Club in Arnold's Park, Iowa before getting about a week and a half to fine tune their games for the men's Region XI Tournament at Veenker Memorial Golf Course in Ames, Iowa on May 3rd and 4th.
