Lakers Finish 6th at Regional Tournament

The Iowa Lakes men's golf team finished off their 2018-19 campaign with a sixth place finish at the men's regional tournament at Veenker Memorial Golf Course in Ames, Iowa. The Lakers were in sixth place after round one and stood four shots behind the third place team and the final qualification spot. The team was unable to move up with a round two score of 327, finishing with a two day total of 649.

Iowa Lakes head golf coach Jarvis Weber had this to say about the tournament: "Unfortunately our guys were not able to find any consistency or rhythm to their rounds and couldn't catch any of the teams in front of us. Veenker is a difficult course and we found ourselves on the wrong side of momentum this weekend. I was proud of the way they fought and clawed, but in this tournament with this very competitive region, that just will not get it done."

Leading the way for the Lakers was sophomore Cameron Maxwell who posted a two day total of 157 and freshman Trace Jacobson with a two day total of 162. Carlton Rahn posted 164, Morgan Edwards 166, and Aaron James 172.

"This was a great group of kids to work with for the last two years, and they were my first full class of recruits so they will be sorely missed next year. Hopefully they have instilled some good habits in the underclassmen and they can leave their imprint for years to come. Things don't always end up the way we hope, but I do want to thank them for these last two years, it truly has been a fun ride."
