Charli Abernathy to Play at Iowa Lakes

Iowa Lakes Community College Head Softball Coach, Katie King, announced the signing of Charli Abernathy to the 2024-2025 recruiting class. Abernathy is the daughter of Pat Abernathy and Amanda Plummer and attends North St. Paul High School in Minnesota.

"Charli is going to be a great addition to our very strong 2025 recruiting class. She will be a good person to not only have on the softball team, but also on campus." Commented Coach King

As an outfielder for the Polars, Abernathy has earned three varsity letters. In her first three seasons, she has compiled a .357 batting average with a .421 on-base percentage. Abernathy has racked up 45 hits with 8 doubles and 1 triple. Thus far, she has been selected as an All-Section recipient in 2023 and an All-Conference Honorable Mention recipient in 2024.

When asked about why she chose Iowa Lakes, Abernathy said, "I chose Iowa Lakes because of the great coaching staff and the opportunities they and the team have to offer."

Coach King is looking for Abernathy to bring a lot to next year's team, "Charli has the ability to play any spot on the grass and play them well. We will be looking for someone to step up and lead in the outfield. Charli comes from great high school program, so we expect her to be able to bring that competitive fire to this program. It will be fun to watch Charli play in the blue and gold jersey next year!"
