Iowa Lakes Community College Head Softball Coach, Katie King, announced the signing of Leah Bode to the 2024-2025 recruiting class. Bode is the daughter of Matt and Kim Bode and attends Nicollet High School in Minnesota.
"We are very excited that Leah chose to be a Laker next year." Commented Coach King. "We will be graduating our entire outfield after this season, so we are looking for athletes that will be able to step in and make an immediate impact for us. We believe that Leah will do just that!"
Bode, a four-year letter winner in softball, has found success on the diamond by leading her team to a 2022 Class A State Championship. She has a .461 career batting average with 121 hits, including 22 doubles, 11 triples, and 8 homeruns. Bode has been recognized for her performance by receiving many accolades. She is a two-time All-Conference Honorable Mention selection, one-time All-Conference 2nd Team All-Conference selection, and one-time 1st Team All-Conference selection. In addition, Bode is a one-time All-State Honorable Mention recipient and one-time All-State 2nd Team recipient. Bode has also received honors as an All-Section player, All- Journal 1st Team, and two-time All-Journal 2nd Team.
Bode had this to say about choosing Iowa Lakes, "I chose Iowa Lakes because the coaching staff was very kind, personable, and welcoming when I went for a visit. Iowa Lakes is able to provide that smaller community atmosphere which makes it feel like home. I believe this a good place for me to get a start on my college education while being able to continue my athletic career."
Off the field, Bode has found success on the court and in the classroom. She is a four-year letter winner in volleyball, where she has been selected two times to the All-Conference Honorable Mention Team and one time to the All-Journal Honorable Mention Team. Bode is also a three-year letter winner in basketball, where she has been a two-time All-Conference selection, two-time All-Journal selection, and KNUJ Player of the Week. In the classroom, Bode is an eleven-time All-Conference Academic recipient in her respective sports. She is also on the A Honor Roll and a member of the National Honor Society.
Coach King also had this to say, "Leah is going to be a great addition to our already strong recruiting class. She has the ability to be versatile by playing both the outfield and pitching. She will give our pitching staff yet another look, which we will use to our advantage next year. Leah is a quiet young lady; you can see her wheels turning. She is like a sponge trying to absorb as much information as she can to then apply to practice and her own personal advancement. We are very excited to see Leah in the blue and gold jersey next year!"
