Iowa Lakes Community College softball player, Korilynn Christians, has been recognized as last week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week. This is due to her outstanding play between March 3rd – March 9th, when the Lakers went 4-2.
Christians had this to say about receiving this award, "I am so blessed to receive this award, not only for myself, but also for my teammates. This proves that all of our hard work since the start of the year is paying off. I love being able to go out on the field with my best friends and have the opportunity to play the sport we love together. These accolades from our performances make the success so much sweeter and I'm grateful to have the opportunity to be part of such a special team.
At the plate, Christians went 9-17, giving her a .529 batting average. This included three doubles and two homeruns, along with four singles. Christians drove in eleven RBIs, scored seven runs, and showcased her speed by stealing three bases. Christians also made some key plays in the field, ending innings with a sliding catch, an acrobatic leap, and a long running catch in foul territory. In the games that Christians played, the Lakers went 4-1.
Christians' week was highlighted in the Lakers 18-3 five inning win over SUNY Adirondack. During the game, Christians was 3-4 with a double and two homeruns. She had a team high six runs batted in and scored three times herself.
On the season, Christians is batting .380 with a .392 on-base percentage. She has 16 hits, including six doubles and three homeruns. Christians has scored 16 times, while scoring 16 of her teammates as well. She has also stolen five bases in the 15 games she has played in.
