Taylor Larson Named Player of the Week

Iowa Lakes Community College softball player, Taylor Larson, has been named last week's Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week. She was named this because of her outstanding play between the dates of March 17th and March 23rd, when the Lakers went 3-2. Larson is the third Laker in three weeks to be awarded this honor.

 Larson had this to say about this honor, "I am so grateful to receive this award. Every practice and the work we have done on our own since the beginning of the year is paying off. I love being able to play the sport I love with my best friends. My teammates have made me a better person on and off the field. This team is very special to me, and I am glad to have this opportunity to play with them. I am super thankful for all of this!"

At the plate, Larson went 9-16 which earned her a .563 batting average. Of her nine hits, she tallied one double and five home runs. Larson drove in 10 RBIs, scored nine runs, and took two walks. She was able to showcase her speed by stealing three bases while only striking out twice. Larson is currently ranked second in the conference in home runs (14), second in slugging percentage (.989),third in RBIs (43), and sixth in hits (39).

Larson's best game came on the 22nd when the Lakers took a 12-3 win over Highland Community College. She went 3-4 in the game, scoring three runs, driving in five RBIs and barreling three home runs.

On the season, Larson has a .423 batting average with a .541 on-base percentage and a .926 slugging percentage. She has tallied 34 hits, including four doubles, two triples, and 14 home runs. She has driven in 34 of her teammates while scoring 38 times herself.
