#2 DMACC Too Much For Lakers

#2 Des Moines Area Community College's powerful offense was too much for Iowa Lakes on Thursday. DMACC took the first game 16-1 and the second 13-3.

Game One: DMACC (16)- ILCC (1)

The Bears put two up on the scoreboard in the second inning on a two run homerun. The Lakers scored in their half of the inning, on Tianna Soto's first career homerun.

With the Lakers down just one, DMACC got their offense going. They took advantage of some Iowa Lakes miscues to put up nine runs in the top of the third inning. They did this on nine hits and one Laker error. The Bears put up three more runs in the top of the fourth and two in the top of the sixth to complete the 16-1 win.

Naomi Tolmachoff took the loss for the Lakers. She allowed eleven runs, seven earned, on thirteen hits and one walk. Isabelle Karr allowed three earned runs on four hits and one walk, while Yasmine Nix allowed two earned runs on four hits. Tianna Soto was the leader at the plate, as she went 2-2 with a homerun.

Game Two: DMACC (13)- ILCC (3)

DMACC took the early lead in game two, scoring two runs in the top of the first on two hits and a Laker error. They put up another three runs in the top of the second on three hits and one error.

The Lakers loaded up the bases in the bottom of the third, when Taylor Allen reached on an error, Yasmine Nix singled up the middle, and Gabby Heckard was hit by a pitch. The Bears got the final two Laker batters to ground into a fielder's choice and line out to right field to end the threat.

The Bears offense exploded in the top of the fourth, when they put six runs up on the scoreboard.

Iowa Lakes  got their own offense started in the bottom of the fourth when Custard led off with a single. Priscilla Lozoya then tripled to center to allow Custard to score and put the first run for the Lakers up on the board. Arechederra then grounded out to short, which allowed Lozoya to score. With the bases cleared, Lexus Gorospe hit her first career homerun over the centerfield fence.

DMACC put their final two runs up on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth on two hits and a Laker error.

Yasmine Nix took the loss for the Lakers, allowing eleven runs, six earned, on eleven hits and striking out one. Lexus Gorospe allowed two runs, zero earned, on four hits and striking out two. Yasmine Nix led the offense in game two, going 3-3. Laurie Custard was 2-2 with a walk, while Lexus Gorospe and Priscilla Lozoya each had a hit in the game.

The Lakers are at home again Sunday, April 28th, to take on Southwestern Community College. Game times are 12:00 and 2:00 PM.
