Iowa Lakes Community College Head Softball Coach, Katie King, announced the signing of Morgan Fine to the 2024-2025 recruiting class. Fine is the daughter of Todd and Mandy Fine and attends Spirit Lake High School in Spirit Lake, Iowa.
"We are very excited to welcome Morgan to the Laker Softball program. She is a high-quality person and student-athlete and will be a great role model to her peers and the youth in the community. Morgan is going to be a great addition in the circle for us next year. She comes from an elite high school program in Iowa, where hard work is expected. We look for her to bring her competitive nature and winning mindset to our team next season. I cannot wait to coach Morgan and see how much she can accomplish here and in life!" commented Coach King.
As a pitcher, Fine has earned four varsity letters for the Indians. She has a career 33-19 record in the circle, with a 2.44 ERA. Fine has struck out 292 batters and looks to have this number continue to climb this season. Also hitting for herself, Fine has posted a .257 batting average with 59 hits, including 16 doubles, 2 triples, and 9 homeruns. She has recorded 50 RBIs and an on-bae percentage of .362. Because of her efforts on the field, Fine has been named to the All-Conference 1st Team one time (2021) and the All-Conference 2nd Team two times (2022 and 2023). In addition to softball, Fine has also earned two letters for golf.
As to why Fine chose Iowa Lakes, "There are a lot of reasons I have decided to continue my education and softball career at Iowa Lakes. First off, seeing how well all the girls here get along and gel with each other is something I can't wait to be a part of. With that being said, the coaching staff has already made me feel like I am part of the family and has welcomed me with open arms. They have given me the chance to continue playing the sport I love, and I am extremely grateful for that. I'm excited to finally be part of the team and continue learning and playing the game of softball."
