Iowa Lakes Community College Head Softball Coach, Katie King, has announced the signing of Marrissa Miller to the 2024-2025 recruiting class. Miller is the daughter of Veronica Fogal and Bret Fogal and attends Monticello High School in Monticello, Illinois.
"We are excited that Marrissa chose to be a Laker next year." Commented Coach King. "Marrissa and her family are going to be a joy to have around the program and we cannot wait to see everything that she can bring to Iowa Lakes."
A catcher/middle, Miller has found success on the field for the Sages. Last season, she compiled a .395 batting average with 34 hits, including 11 doubles, 5 triples, and 6 homeruns. Behind the plate, she threw out 14 of 44 for a 38% catcher throw out percentage. For her efforts, Miller was named to the 2nd team All-Conference and was defensive player of the year in 2023.
"I chose Iowa Lakes because it felt like home. I come from a small quiet town with less than 6,000 people. Estherville is a small town and the campus I will be on most of the time is close and homey. I'll make plenty of friends being dual sport athlete and living with most of my teammates. I am very excited for my first year at Iowa Lakes and cannot wait to get started." Commented Marrissa Miller.
In addition to softball, Miller will also be on the Iowa Lakes Women's Wrestling team. She has received one letter in wrestling and was named 2nd Team All-Conference as well. Academically, Miller has received two honors awards.
Coach King also had this to say, "Marrissa is going to be a great addition to our team. She is small in stature but plays big. Her presence is known when she is on the field, and we look for her to bring that leadership to Iowa Lakes. Marrissa has the ability to play multiple different positions on the field, which will most definitely help out team next year."
