Iowa Lakes Community College Head Softball Coach, Katie King, has announced the signing of Bailey Smith to the 2024-2025 recruiting class. Smith is the daughter of Matthew and Melissa Smith. She is from Lawrence, Kansas and attends Lawrence Free State High School.

"We are excited to welcome Bailey and her family to the Iowa Lakes Family." Commented Coach King. "Bailey is a very well-rounded student-athlete that will definitely be leaving her mark on this program." 

As an infielder and one season yet to go, Smith has lettered two times for the Firebirds. Last year she batted .398 with a .508 on-base percentage. Smith had three doubles and one homerun. In the classroom, Smith is a National Honor Society member and holds a 4.0 GPA.

When asked why she chose Iowa Lakes, Smith had this to say, "I loved the environment, and the people were so welcoming and friendly! I felt right at home, and I can't wait to be in Estherville next fall!"

Coach King also had this to say, "We love the fact that Bailey decided to be a Laker. She is someone that will come out every day with a great attitude and the willingness to learn. The passion that she has to play softball radiates from her every time she steps on the field. We are excited for the opportunity to work with her the next two years."
