Laker Softball Welcomes Holly Garrett

Laker Softball Welcomes Holly Garrett

Iowa Lakes Community College Head Softball Coach, Katie King, announced the signing of Holly Garrett to the 2024-2025 recruiting class. Holly is the daughter of Joan Garrett and Tom Garrett and attends Beech Grove High School in Beech Grove, Indiana.

"Holly is exactly what we were missing in our lineup," commented Coach King. "She has a huge repertoire of skills at the plate that will make her very dangerous. You pair that with her speed and aggressiveness on the bases, and you have the epitome of Iowa Lakes Softball."

Garrett is a utility player for her high school team, the Hornets. In her junior season, she compiled a .329 batting average with a .423 on-base percentage. Garrett racked up 26 hits, including 5 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 homerun. She swiped 19 bases on the year.

As to why she chose Iowa Lakes, Garrett had this to say, "I chose Iowa Lakes because it felt like home. The small town location, the people, the community. It reminded me of my hometown in Indiana and made me feel welcomed. The students and staff that I had the chance to meet were very welcoming."

In addition to Garrett's softball letters, she has earned one in basketball, three in soccer, and one in wrestling. Garrett has been chosen as her high school soccer team's captain two times and was awarded the sportsmanship of the year for all female athletes in her high school. Garrett will also be wrestling for the Iowa Lakes Women's Wrestling program while at Iowa Lakes.

Coach King is very excited to get Garrett here this fall. "Holly is a triple threat. She is a great athlete, student, and person. She is the type of kid that you want to represent your program," said King, "She holds herself and her teammates to a high standard and we cannot wait to see all that she can accomplish here!"
