Hein Earns ICCAC Athlete of the Week

Iowa Lakes Community College softball player, Lauren Hein, has been recognized as last week's ICCAC Athlete of the Week.

Hein, a freshman second baseman from Andover, MN, is the first Iowa Lakes Softball player to receive this award since 2011. She was selected for this award based on games played during the week of April 4-10. Hein produced monster numbers for the Lakers during their eight game week.

During the week, Hein held a .630 batting average with a 1.39 slugging percentage. She was 17-27 at the plate, including ten doubles and two homeruns. She batted in seventeen runs, while crossing the plate twelve times.

Her best game of the week came in the first game of a doubleheader against Southwestern Community College. Hein was a perfect 4-4 at the plate and hit the game winning double with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the seventh to give the Lakers the 6-5 victory.

Hein leads the Lakers in almost every statistical category, including: batting average, .515, on base percentage, .542, slugging percentage, .900, runs batted in, 30, triples, 4, doubles, 19, hits, 52, and runs scored, 31. She currently leads the NJCAA in doubles with nineteen.
