The Iowa Lakes Community College Softball team took two losses to Iowa Central Community College. Iowa Central won the first game 12-1 and the second game 8-0. The Lakers are now 10-18 overall and 1-7 in conference.
GAME 1: 12 (ICCC), 1 (ILCC)
The Lakers defense and offense had a hard time in game one. The Tritons were able to score ten unearned runs in game one and allow just one to the Lakers. Iowa Central put up two runs in the first and second inning, before exploding for nine in the fifth.
Iowa Lakes' lone run came in the fourth inning when Madison Goosmann led off with a walk. She then advanced to second on a single from Ally Davis. Macy Alderson then doubled to left, scoring Goosmann from second.
Macy Alderson was the leader at the plate for the Lakers. She was 1-2 with one run batted in and a double. Taylor Larson suffered the loss, throwing 4.2 innings and allowing 10 runs, zero earned. This was done on 7 hits, two walks, and four strikeouts. Jolene Jordahl threw .1 innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits and one walk.
GAME 2: 8 (ILCC), 0 (ILCC)
Iowa Central had pretty steady scoring in game two, putting up two in the first, second, and fourth innings and one run in the fifth and seventh. They did this on nine hits, six walks, and two Laker errors.
Iowa Lakes struggled at the plate in game two, only mustering up three hits. They threatened to score in the fourth when Taylor Larson doubled and advanced to third on Alexis Cullinane's single.
Taylor Larson, Alexis Cullinane, and Myla Murphy each had a hit in the game. Jolene Jordahl took the loss in game two. She allowed seven runs, five earned, on six hits and five walks, while striking out two. Taylor Larson threw 2.1 innings, allowing one run, zero earned, on three hits and one walk.
The Lakers will be at home again on Monday, April 8th, at 2:00 and 4:00 PM against Hawkeye Community College.
