ILCC Sweeps Northeast CC on the Road

ILCC Softball sweeps Northeast CC on the Road

Iowa Lakes softball team hit for the cycle in game one to beat Northeast CC 14-0 in five innings. The Lakers then exploded for twenty five hits in game two to win 21-1 in five innings. The Lakers advance to 16-10 overall and 7-5 in the conference.

Game One: ILCC 14, NCC 0 (5 innings)

Kelly Drake kept the Northeast Community College batters off balance all day, allowing just two hits and striking out four batters in five innings. Drake improves to 8-4 on the season.

Offensively, the team used fifteen hits to hit for the cycle. There were five girls with singles, Caitlyn Clayton and Lauren Hein each had a double, Shelby Davis had a triple, and Hein hit a grand slam. Hein had a total of seven runs batted and Brittany Evans was 4-4 in game one.

Game Two: ILCC 21, NCC 1 (5 innings)

The Lakers used twenty five hits in game two, to top NCC 21-1 in five innings. ILCC combined for seventeen singles, seven doubles, and Hein had a homerun.

Courtney Calkins picked up the win for the Lakers, improving to 5-2 on the year. She allowed two hits and struck out seven batters in five innings.

The Lakers will play at home this weekend. They will play Southwestern Community College on Saturday, April 9th, at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. They will then take on Ellsworth Community College on Sunday, April 10th, at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
