Lakers Sign Kailey Maksim

Iowa Lakes Community College Head Coach Katie Larson announced the signing of Kailey Maksim to the 2019-2020 recruiting class. Kailey is the daughter of Danny and Jill Maksim and played for the Sunrise Mountain High School Mustangs.  

"We welcome Kailey Maksim and her family to Iowa Lakes softball today," said Coach Larson. "Her work ethic and love for the game are the traits that we want future Laker softball players to exemplify."  

A middle infielder from Peoria, Arizona, Maksim is a two year letter-winner. In her senior season, she batted .325 with 3 doubles, 2 triples, and 1 homerun. She had a .950 fielding percentage for the Mustangs. In her junior season, Maksim was named to the All-Region 1st Team and All-District 2nd Team. She continued to receive honors her senior year, being named to the All-Region 2nd Team and All-District Honorable Mention Team.

Additionally, Maksim is a two year letter-winner for Badminton and is an has received her Academic letter four consecutive years.

Kailey had this to say, "As soon as I stepped foot on campus, I knew this is where I wanted to be. The sense of family was overwhelming and I knew I would be welcomed!"

"Kailey will be a very solid player up the middle for us next year, which is a hole we needed to fill. Offensively, Kailey has so much pop in her bat. She has the ability to spray the ball to all fields and drive in her teammates. We are excited to watch Kailey grow as a student-athlete next year!" Commented Coach Larson.
