Pratt, KS- Iowa Lakes split with the Beavers from Pratt Community College on the final day of the series. The Lakers won the first game 5-1 and lost a nail bitter in the second game 8-7. Recaps below.

Game 1

The Lakers bats came alive in the first inning, putting up four runs on 5 hits and 2 stolen bases. BJ Johnson started off the game with a drag bunt single, followed by a single from Bryce Rogokos and Mikey Adams. After a successful double steal attempt by Rogokos and Adams, Ashtin Moxey was able to drive them both in on a single to right field. Moxey advanced to second once the right fielder made an error. Bo Lovdahl stepped up to the plate a smoked a single up the middle for an RBI single to give the Lakers their 4-0 lead. Pratt added a run to cut the Laker lead to 3 after failed pick-off attempt by starter Marcel d'Avoine. d'Avoine went 5 innings giving up one run, striking out 5, allowing 3 hits, 2 walks, and a hit by pitch. The final run of the game came from the Lakers in the top of the sixth inning, once B. Lovdahl was hit by a pitch and stole second base. He later scored after a throwing error by the shortstop. Zach Meyer came in relief for 1 plus innings striking out 2 and hitting the lead-off hitter in the seventh inning. Mitch Ebben was called into the game and shut the door for the Lakers win. Ebben threw one inning striking out one and walking one. The Lakers improved to 4-3 on the season after game one.

Game 2

BJ Johnson lead off the game with a base hit in the 6-hole and continued to steal second base. Johnson scored after an error by the second baseman. In the top of the third, Johnson sparked up another run for the Lakers after an inside the park homerun. Th Beavers answered back and tied up the game at 2 with two singles, a sacrifice bunt, and a 2 RBI double. The Lakers put pressure on the Beavers in the top of the sixth inning with great at bats that lead to walks from Marcus Wohl, Chad Hinkle, and Spenser Larson. Johnson continued to swing a hot stick when he laced a two RBI single up the middle to give the Lakers the lead 4-2. The wheels started to fall off for the Lakers in the bottom of the sixth when the Beavers scored five runs chasing Martin Eckard. Iowa Lakes answered back quickly adding 3 runs to tie the game up at 7 in the top of the 8th inning. Wohl and B. Lovdahl hit back to back singles to start the rally, but Chad Hinkle got the job done with a 2 RBI double down the right field. Larson then singled to right center to drive in Hinkle to tie the game. Mitch Ebben entered the game in the bottom of the 8^th topping at 92 mph. He had a self-induced jam, where he walked 2 and gave up a hit to load the bases with 2 outs, before hitting the next hitter to give the Beavers the go ahead and eventual game winning run.    

The Lakers fall to 4-4 on the season and look to continue this next weekend in Great Bend, Kansas facing Barton Community College.
