Burlington, IA- The Iowa Lakes baseball team drove down and played against the Blackhawks of Southeastern Community College. Iowa Lakes dropped both games in their conference opener 5-1 and 9-5.

Game 1

The first two innings were quiet for both teams until Southeastern decided to take the lead with three runs on two walks, an error, and two singles up the middle off starter Marcel d'Avoine. Iowa Lakes added their only run of the game in the fifth inning when Jordan Deadwyler hit a single to left center and was driven in on an RBI single by Grant Becher. d'Avoine pitched 5.0 plus innings allowing two more runs in the sixth inning before being pulled. d'Avoine finished the day with zero earned runs, one walk, one hit by pitch, and three strikeouts. Beau Britton was called on in relief throwing one inning with one strikeout and one walk. Southeastern shut the door on the Lakers in the seventh inning permitting them to win game one 5-1. Notable player was Mikey Adams, who was 2-3 on the game with a double and a single.  

Game 2

Iowa Lakes came rushing out of the gate in game two scoring two runs on a walk, a single from Adams, and an RBI single from Marcus Wohl. Southeastern responded in the bottom of the second inning when starter Mitch Sparks gave up six runs on five hits, one hit by pitch, and a fielder's choice giving them 6-2 lead. Southeastern continue to add to their lead in the bottom of the fourth scoring two runs on 2 singles and a double. Mitch Sparks finished the day throwing 3.2 innings and allowing 8 earned runs on 8 hits. The Lakers got a run back to cut the lead from 6 to 5 when Tavan Shahidi roped a double to left center and was later driven in on a RBI single from Deadwyler in the fifth inning. Bransen Petersen came in relief for the Lakers throwing 2.1 innings and allowing one run in the seventh inning on 3 singles. Petersen finished with one strikeout and allowed three hits. Mitch Ebben came into the game next facing four batters and striking out one to close the 7^th inning. Zach Meyer was called on in the eighth inning and retired the side striking out one hitter. Iowa Lakes added their last run of the game in the top of the ninth inning when Bryce Rogokos scored on passed ball after leading-off the inning with a single.

The Lakers dropped both games and are 6-15 (0-2 ICCAC) and will take on the Blackhawks at 1 pm on Saturday in Burlington.
