Baseball Moves Ellsworth Series to Friday

Estherville, IA- Iowa Lakes Baseball team has moved their home conference series with Ellsworth Community College up to Friday April 28 and Saturday April 29.

The Laker's baseball team is coming off a four game sweep from Kirkwood last weekend. The Lakers fought tooth and nail all weekend and fell short in each game. Iowa Lakes has some key players for the upcoming series with Ellsworth. Starting Pitcher Marcel d'Avoine has a 3.6 ERA with 30 strikeouts in 36 innings. Out of the bullpen, Zach Meyer has a conference ERA of 1.29 allowing 3 hits and striking out 5 through 7 innings.

Offensively, BJ Johnson and Tavan Shahidi lead the Lakers. Johnson leads the team with a .336 batting average with 43 hits, 7 doubles, 19 RBIs, 19 stolen bases, and 1 homerun on the season. Freshman catcher/first baseman Shahidi, is hitting .297 with 5 homeruns, 11 doubles, and 35 hits in 41 games. Iowa Lakes is looking to finish the season strong heading into the last two weeks of the regular season.

Iowa Lakes will play in a double header in their last home series at Hess-Limberg Field at 3 pm on Friday in Estherville.
