Estherville, IA – Iowa Lakes played in a double header at home against Ellsworth Community College Friday at Hess-Limberg Field. The Lakers fell in both game losing 7-5 and 17-11.

Game one

Both teams were quiet until the third inning when Ellsworth struck first plating three runs off starter Marcel d'Avoine on an error, a two-run homerun, a single, and a RBI double. BJ Johnson legged out a triple and later scored in the third to cut the Ellsworth lead to two. The Lakers continued to score in the fourth inning after singles from Tavan Shahidi and Joe Fitka, and Grant Becher. Ellsworth answered back in the fifth adding two runs on an error and another two-run homerun. Iowa Lakes wasn't done yet. In the bottom of the fifth, Jordan Deadwyler hit a three-run home run to left center to tie the game up at 5. The bats went quiet for the Lakers the rest of the game, while Ellsworth added a run in the sixth and seventh inning. d'Avoine threw six and one third innings allowing 5 earned runs and striking out 6. Paul Mudrow threw two thirds of an inning striking out one batter.

Game two

Ellsworth stole the show early in game two plating 12 run in the first three innings. Iowa Lakes had a two-run bottom of the third when Connor Mitchell hit a 2 RBI single to right, making it 12-2 Ellsworth. The Lakers added another run in the fourth after a Nick Lovdahl RBI single to left field. Adding three more runs in the fifth Ellsworth jumped to a 15-3 lead. A two out Mikey Adams double started the rally and after a costly error on the third baseman for Ellsworth, Bo Lovdahl drove in a couple of runs on a double to left center. Nick Locdahl drove his twin brother in from second giving the Lakers a chance and being down 15-7. The Lakers scored two more in the sixth inning off a two RBI double from Shahidi. The last of Iowa lakes runs came in the eighth inning. Nick Lovdahl drove in two runs with an RBI single to left field making it 15-11. Ellsworth scored another two runs in the ninth after a hit by pitch, a double, and a triple thus, completing the game and handing the Lakers a 17-11 loss.
