Iowa Central Blanks Iowa Lakes

Fort Dodge, IA- Iowa Lakes finished the first day of a four-game series with Iowa Central today getting shut out in both games. Game one Iowa Lakes fell 13-0 and 10-0.

Game One

Iowa Central took full control of the game right out of the gate. The Tritons plated five runs in the first inning on three walks and two homeruns. Ashtin Moxey recorded the first hit of the game for the Lakers in the second inning with a single through the six hole. With the Tritons scoring five more runs in the bottom of the second inning and extending the lead to ten on two singles, a double, a homerun, two hit by pitches, and three walks, caused the small glimmer of hope for the Lakers to diminish. BJ Johnson got his only hit on the day in the third inning with a single to second base. Iowa Central scored three more runs in the fourth inning after a double, a walk, a single, and a throwing error from the third baseman. The bats attempt to come alive in the fifth inning when Grant Becher hit a single to left field and Spenser Larson hit a double down the left field line, but couldn't drive them in thus, handing the Lakers their 33rd loss of the season.  

Game Two

Iowa Central kept their foot on the gas petal in game two. The Tritons plated nine runs in the first two innings off starter Mitch Sparks. Giving up three homeruns, five singles, two walks, and an error caused the nine runs to be plated and giving the Tritons a comfortable lead. Iowa Lakes got heir one and only hit in the game in the third inning on a single to left field from Nick Lovdahl. Iowa Central did not score again until the bottom of the fifth on a RBI single to right field and handed Iowa Lakes the mercy rule loss at 10-0.   

Iowa Lakes falls to 19-34 (3-19 ICCAC) and will travel back to Fort Dodge and take on the Tritons in day two of their four game series starting at noon.
