Iowa Lakes Splits with #10 Southeastern

On Saturday, the Lakers split with #10 Southeastern on the second day of the series by losing game one by a score of 7-0, and winning the second game by a score of 4-2. In game one, the Blackhawks pitching staff kept the Lakers bats in check. Iowa Lakes was led by Chipper Holland (Tampa, Florida) who went 1-2 with a triple, Jayden Adrians (Green Bay, Wisconsin) was 1-3 with a single, and Andrew Eskens (Lincoln, Nebraska) went 1-3 with a single at the plate. The game was 3-0 into the 6th inning when the Blackhawks distanced themselves with a 4 run inning.

Game two was a different story for Iowa Lakes, as the bats came alive. The offensive attack for Iowa Lakes started in the first inning where Jimmy Mapakou (Vauréal, Île-de, France) led the game off with a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. He later scored from third on a sac fly by Chipper Holland, giving the Lakers a 1-0 lead. The Blackhawks answered with 2 in the 1st, but then Laker starter Jacob Myer (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) settled in surrendering 2 runs on 5 strikeouts in 8 innings. The Lakers tied the game in the top of the second on a fielding error by the Southeastern shortstop to score Dean Bedell (Treynor, Iowa) who was on via a leadoff walk. In the top of the 6th, Jayden Adrians connected for a homerun to left center off the scoreboard to give Iowa Lakes a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom half of the 6th inning. Myer continued to hold the Blackhawks at bay, going the next 3 innings without allowing any Southeastern runner past 1st base. In the 8th inning the Lakers would tack on another run. Chipper Holland reached on an error and tagged on a sac fly from Adrians to get into scoring position. Andrew Eskens would then hit a double down the left field line giving the Lakers a 4-2 lead. Lucas Gardner (Estherville, Iowa) came in to close the door in the 9th striking out 2 and giving up 1 hit giving the Lakers a win and Gardner his 3rd save of the year.
