DMACC Sweeps Day One

DMACC Sweeps Day One

The Iowa Lakes Community College Lakers hosted the DMACC bears on a balmy Saturday afternoon. Dean Bedell (Treynor, Iowa) and Marcus Pronay (Innisfil, Ontario) were the lone Lakers who each tallied a hit in game 1. Iowa Lakes did punch a run on the board in the 6th when Trevor Bormann (Algona, Iowa) reached on with a walk and would later advance to third on a sac bunt and another walk. Bormann would score on a walk by Andrew Eskens (Lincoln, Nebraska) to give the Lakers their only run of the game.

Evan Sankey (Appleton, Wisconsin) was on the hill for the Lakers in game 1 where he would go 7 innings with 3 k's. Sankey had control for a majority of the game except for allowing a couple of one out hit by pitches followed by a single to give the Bears a 1-0 lead.. DMACC would extend the lead when the Bears right fielder would go ahead and hit a 3 run homerun over the left field wall giving them 5 runs and a 5-1 victory in game 1.

In game 2, the DMACC Bears struck first scoring four runs in the top half of the first and one in the third to give them a 5-0 lead going into the third.  Austen Daliet (New Orleans, Louisiana) led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a double down the left field line. Daliet would advance to third on a sac bunt from Bormann and would score on a fielder's choice from Spencer Keane (Palm Springs, California) cutting the bears lead to 5-1. The scoring did not stop for Iowa Lakes when in the fourth inning, Eskens, Bedell, Daliet, and Pronay would all walk. Eskens would score on Pronay's walk to bring it to 5-2 and Keane would single to bring Bedell in and make it 5-3 heading into the 5th.  Iowa Lakes would not score again until the 7th inning when Sam Steinmeyer would come in to hit, and draw a walk. Jimmy Mapakou ((Vauréal, Île-de, France) would come in and pinch run for Steinmeyer and would steal second base and later score on a wild pitch that would kick away from the DMACC catcher.

Frankie Cresta (Johnston, Iowa) would start game two going 4 innings giving up 5 runs, but only 1 earned. Chris Isensee (Shakopee, Minnesota) would come in for Cresta going 1.2 innings giving up 1 unearned run and keeping the Bears off balance. Austin Charboneau (Idaho, Falls) came in and pitched 2.1 innings striking out 2 batters and giving up 1 run and Lucas Garnder (Estherville, Iowa) pitched 1 inning striking out 1 and giving up 0 runs.
