Lakers Split Tuesday Double Header

On Tuesday, the Iowa Lakes Lakers hosted the Anoka-Ramsey Rams for a Tuesday mid-week double header.  In game 1 the Lakers jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a Trevor Bormann (Algona, Iowa) walk and stolen base. Andrew Eskens (Lincoln, Nebraska) would also walk to make it runners on first and second. A double steal would draw a bad throw at second base to allow Bormann to score from third. Anoka-Ramsey would score 5 unanswered runs to make it 5-1 Rams. Iowa Lakes bats were cold and could not scratch across any runs the rest of the game and would drop game 1 by a score of 5-1.

 

Tyler Shafer (Nevada, Iowa) got the start for the Lakers going 3 1/3 innings pitched striking out 5. Austin Charboneau (Idaho Falls, Idaho) went 2 2/3 innings with 1 strikeout. Lucas Gardner would come in the 7th and would strikeout 2.

 

In game 2, Anoka-Ramsey put 3 runs up on the Lakes the first two innings to give them a 3-0 lead heading into the 3rd. In the 3rd Alex Pavon (Bellevue, Nebraska) would lead things off the with a double to left field Followed by a Bormann HBP. A double steal would cause a bad throw and would score Pavon to give the Lakers there first run. Chipper Holland (Tampa, Florida) would single up the middle to score Bormann to cut the lead to 3-2. Anoka-Ramsey would tack on two more runs to extend their lead to 5-2. In the Bottom of the 7th the Lakers showed some life. Sam Steinmeyer (Lincoln, Nebraska) would single into left center and Holland would walk to make it first and second with 0 outs. A wild pitch and Walk by Devin Brackin (Tampa, Florida) would load the bases. Jayden Adrians (Green Bay, Wisconsin) would hit into a fielder's choice to score Steinmeyer. Beau Sackett (Malcolm, Nebraska) would single and score Brackin from third to make it 5-4 Anoka Ramsey with 1 out. Austen Daliet (New Orleans, Louisiana) would walk to extend the inning. Marcus Pronay (Innisfil, Ontario) would get single to the shallow left field to score Spencer Keane (Palm Springs, California) from third base. Jimmy Mapakou (Vauréal, Île-de, France) would come up with runners in scoring position and would take advantage and hit a line drive up the middle to score Sacket from third and complete the 4 run 7th inning to beat Anoka Ramsey in game 2 of the double header.  

 

Jacob Buffington (Bogart, Georgia) got the start and would go 2 inning's with 1 strikeout. Tomas Pinet (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) came in and threw 3 inning's striking out 1. Chris Isensee (Shakopee, Minnesota) came and got his first win of the year pitching 2 innings striking out 3.
