Iowa Lakes visited Iowa Western in Council Bluffs on Wednesday. Alicia Cortez scored in the 19th minute to give the Lakers an early lead. A fine strike into the left upper corner of the net tied the game late in the first half. Despite having their moments in both halves, the Lakers couldn't capitalize. Iowa Western's technical ability had the upper hand despite the Lakers' hard work throughout the game. Iowa Western added two more goals in the second half to seal the win and their first place standing in the ICCAC. The Lakers finished the regular season 8-5, their first winning season in over five years. On Wednesday, October 26th at 2:00 PM, they will begin regional playoff play at Indian Hills.
