Troy Larson enters his 17th year as Iowa Lakes Community College's Athletic Director, and his first year as the school's Executive Dean of Students. Larson has done an incredible job leading the athletic department to tremendous growth and success.

Under Larson’s guidance, the department has added nine new sports, including Men's and Women's Soccer, Sport Shooting, Swimming, Wrestling, and Women's Dance, bringing the number of student-athletes from 79 to over 300. Larson has overseen the addition and renovation of facilities such as the Soccer Pitch, Men's and Women's Basketball Locker Rooms, Wrestling Room, and Athletic Training Room. Impressively, nine teams have qualified for their respective national tournaments, and six teams were recognized as NJCAA Academic All-Americans, with 36 Academic All-Americans during the 2022-2023 academic year.

In addition to his work at the college, Larson has extended his leadership to both the regional and national levels. He is the Assistant Women's Commissioner of the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) and serves on the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Sport Committees for Women's Basketball, Swimming and Diving, and Softball. Larson was also named to the NJCAA eligibility committee in Fall 2023.

Larson's impressive resume includes 16 years as the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Iowa Lakes, where he left as the all-time career leader in wins with 345. The Lakers advanced to the national tournament in 2023, 2021 (3rd place finish), and 2013, winning ICCAC titles in 2023, 2016, and 2013. Larson received ICCAC conference coach of the year honors in 2023, with district coach of the year honors in 2023, 2021, and 2013. Larson coached eight professional basketball players, 59 student-athletes moved on to the four-year level, 49 all-conference players, seven All-Americans, and four ICCAC players of the year.

Before joining Iowa Lakes Community College, Larson served as an assistant men's basketball coach at NCAA Division 1 South Dakota State, NCAA Division 2 Morningside College, and NJCAA Division 2 Iowa Lakes Community College.

Larson has a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota, a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Morningside College, and an Associate of Arts degree from Iowa Lakes Community College. It's also worth mentioning that Larson is married to Angela Larson and has a daughter, Taylor, with sons William and Owen. Larson also has a granddaughter, Taleyah.
