’05-’07 Women’s Basketball

Allie knew as soon as she visited the campus, Iowa Lakes would be a good fit for her. She liked the smaller class sizes and the fact that she could continue her basketball career with a successful program.

As a Laker she was very effective earning Honorable Mention All American as a freshman; third team All American; Academic All Region as a sophomore; scoring over 100 career points; and bring down over 500 career rebounds.

The nights she spent goofing off with roommates in the dorm rooms; long bus rides all over Iowa; greasy egg sandwiches for breakfast in the cafeteria; early mornings in the gym; late night study sessions; supporting the softball team; and getting hit with a football in the face her first day at Iowa Lakes are some memories Allie will never forget.

Head Coach Brian Radtke had the biggest impression on Allie. He helped her build confidence in herself and reassured her of her abilities. “He was someone that was willing to listen and give encouraging feedback."  She was able to excel at the next level with the mental and physical strength Coach Radtke helped her develop.

Other important figures in Allie’s career include Head Trainer- Kyle Norris, Linda Heldt, Marian Brunsvold, Linda Kautz, and Julie Williams.

John and Carolyn Walz were extra special to Allie. “They were the team parents – volunteering their time to be at every game to support us and take care of anything we needed.  They always showed their love and support for all of us on and off the court, whether it was related to basketball or everyday life situations."

After earning her Elementary Education degree as a Laker, she accepted a full scholarship to Emporia State University where she was named player of the week many times.

Currently Allie lives in Lawrence, Kansas where she is a fifth-grade teacher in Topeka, Kansas.

She would like to thank her parents, Brian and Mary, and her grandparents, Loren and Pat, for always being there to support her through all of the ups and downs of her career. “There were so many great moments that we experienced together, it was great to know that I would always have someone in the stands to support me as well as listen to my complaints."
