'66-'68 Football, Basketball, Baseball

Tom Elliot attended Estherville Junior College from '66-'68, he will be going into the Hall of Fame for football, basketball, and baseball.

Tom decided EJC was the place for him because he wanted to continue his education and athletic career.

In his two years as a Wolf, Tom made quite a name for himself.  As a freshman he had 5 punt returns totaling 235 yards; 47 yards per carry.  In his sophomore season he led the team and the conference in receiving yards with 34 receptions for a total of 965 yards averaging 28 yards per catch and getting into the end zone 21 times. Tom was named first team All-Conference and first team All-American in 1967.

The people who made the most impact on him when he was a Wolf were his teammates and coaches George Hess, Al Lindenburg, and Coach Krammer.

After graduating from Estherville Junior College with his AA degree in Business, Tom took his career to Iowa State University where he played as a defensive back for the cyclones for two seasons.  While there his head coach was Johnny Major and defensive line coach Jimmy Johnson.  Tom holds a ‘Big 8’ conference record for his 96 yard punt return at Clyde Williams Field in 1969.

Tom was drafted in the second round in the Canadian Football League to the Edmunton Eskimos out of Iowa State in 1970.  He played in 4 games before a season ending hamstring tear.

After 25 years of coaching at Armstrong, Tom retired from the helm 5 years ago.  He is still teaching and coaching track in the school district and would like to thank his family for all of their support.
