'88-'90 Baseball

Tom Quastad attended Iowa Lakes from ’88-’90, he will be going into the Hall of Fame for Baseball.

Tom chose Iowa Lakes to continue his career and education because it was low cost and high quality.

He finished his career with a .408 batting average leading the Lakers with 17 homeruns. 4 of which came in the same game- Tom is the only Laker to have ever done so. As a freshman he was named second team All-Region, earning first team All-Region as a sophomore.

One of Tom’s favorite memories about Iowa Lakes is when Coach Pat Hall had the great idea to go to Colorado for a SPRING baseball trip. “We were playing at Air Force Academy when the game was stopped due to heavy snow—so heavy you couldn’t see the outfield. We were sent to the dugouts.  As the snow cleared a herd of deer had wandered into the outfield and had to be chased off before play could resume…. Good one Pat!!”

Rich Collison and Pat Hall made the most impact on Tom while he was here. They both took the time to not only coach him, but teach him life lessons while doing so.

After earning his AA degree, he went to South Dakota State University where he lettered his junior year before his arm over the summer, ending his baseball career.

Tom is currently an agronomy instructor at Iowa Lakes.
