’06-’08 Golf

Andy decided to attend Iowa Lakes to continue his education and play golf for his dad, Dan.

He earned many accolades not only athletically, but academically as well. In 2007, he was named to the Academic All-Region team, All Region Team, was a National Qualifier, and helped lead his team to finish 2nd at the Region XI Tournament. In 2008, he was again named to the Academic All-Region team and his team finished 2nd at the Region XI Tournament. His lowest score was 69.

Andy has always cherished his time at Iowa Lakes, in particular listening to Superman coming back from Golf Tournaments and going to Alabama for the National Tournament.

While at Iowa Lakes, Andy was impacted by numerous people. Some of these people include; Nate Hansen in the Admissions Office and George Heldt, a member of the community, but the most influential were his parents Dan Soper and Marilyn Soper.

After graduating from Iowa Lakes with an Associate in Science Degree, Andy transferred to Buena Vista University. He was a 2 year letter winner while at BV. Andy earned 1st Team All-Conference, Ping All-Central Region, and was the IIAC Player of the Year in 2010. Andy was the first Buena Vista golfer since Bill Naughton in 1985 to win the IIAC Conference Championship. Andy graduted BV with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.

Andy is currently in his 5th year as the head golf coach at Iowa Lakes. He also works in the Admissions Office here at Iowa Lakes.

Andy would like to thank his father, Dan, mother, Marilyn, brother, Jeff, sister, Ricca, and wife, Erin for all of the support they have shown him over the years. He would also like to thank his mother-in-law Tammie and father-in-law Todd for being here tonight.

Congratulations Andy on being named to the Iowa Lakes Hall of Fame.
