’06-’08 Volleyball

Arah attended Iowa Lakes after high school because she wanted to continue her volleyball career and be a part of a close knit community.

She found much success while at Iowa Lakes. As a freshman, Arah helped the Lakers to a 28-11 record. As a sophomore, she was selected as a First Team All-American, First Team All-Conference, and First Team All-Region member. In her sophomore year, Arah led her team to a 39-13 record and a 9th place finish at the National Tournament. Arah was also ranked 10th in country for assists with 11 per game. Arah extended her talents outside of volleyball as a Resident Assistant and Tutor on campus.

Arah has always cherished her time at Iowa Lakes, in particular playing in the national tournament and becoming a First Team All-American. In addition, the bonds, memories, and friendships that she created with her teammates and other students are something she will cherish forever.

The people that had the biggest impact on Arah while at Iowa Lakes would be all the wonderful volleyball players that she had the honor to have played with. Arah said this about her teammates, “It was truly a great experience playing with this group of girls and one that I will never forget.” Two people in particular that had an enormous impact on Arah were her Head Coach Scott Tschetter and Athletic Trainer Kyle Norris.

After graduating from Iowa Lakes with her Associate of Arts Degree, Arah decided to hang up the volleyball shoes and attend University of Northern Iowa. This was not an easy decision for her, as she turned down several scholarship offers, including one from Michigan State. Arah decided that she wanted to spend her last two year focusing on her communications and marketing degree. Lucky for Arah, she could still play intramural volleyball at UNI.

Arah recently got married and is working in Lincoln, Nebraska. She works for a staffing and recruitment firm called Aureus Medical Group.

Arah would like to thank her parents, Tony and Charlene, for always supporting her in her decisions while molding her into the person she is today. She really appreciates all the time they spent driving her all over the country to play the sport that she loves. It meant so much to Arah to have her parents there cheering her on and supporting her at all of her games. She greatly appreciates everything they have done for her.

Congratulations Arah Kleinschmidt on being inducted into the Iowa Lakes Hall of Fame.
