Kimberly (White) Peterman ’07-’09 Softball

Kimberly (White) Peterman attended Iowa Lakes Community College from 2007-2009, she will be going into the Hall of Fame for Softball.

Kimmie excelled at Iowa Lakes both in the classroom and on the field.  She was an Honor Student and collected a myriad of accolades on the softball team.  These included participating at the National Tournament in 2008, and being named 1st Team All-Region both her freshman and sophomore year, 1st Team NJCAA All-American in 2007, 2nd Team NJCAA All-American in 2008, and Two-Time All NFCA 1st Team.

Additionally, Kimmie is on the all-time career list for multiple categories at Iowa Lakes.  She holds the single season record for on-base percentage at .540.  She is the 2nd all time leader in career batting average at .481, career hits at 194, and career doubles at 47.  She is 3rd all time in career at bats with 403, 6th in RBIs with 123, 8th in walks at 40 and 9th for career runs scored at 117.

Coach Bosch had this to say about Kimmie:

“Kimmie is such a quality individual so it is not surprising she accomplished so much. Her commitment to achieving her very best was obvious and you can see that in what she has done since graduating from Iowa Lakes. As a softball player she was a pure hitter with a great swing, but Kimmie’s strength was always in her character.”

When asked about her experiences at Iowa Lakes, one thing that stood out was the privilege to spend winter in a cold climate (the winter wonderland of Northwest Iowa). She also appreciates the lifelong friendships she built with her teammates and other athletes.  She has seen the lessons learned through softball as helping her beyond her career at Iowa Lakes.  She had this to say about her coaches, “Coach Bosch really taught us a lot about the game and empowered us to be successful in any situation no matter the adversity we faced.  I walked away from Iowa Lakes more confident as a player with a deeper love for the game of softball.  I feel like the coaches across the board were very supportive of all of the athletes at Iowa Lakes regardless of if we played on their team.  There was a great sense of Community.”  She believes the many coaches and mentors allowed her to accomplish her dreams and taught her lifelong lessons about discipline, resilience, hard work, and perseverance.

Kimmie would like to thank her mom, Sally White, and sisters, Katie and Janet.

Kimmie now works as the Assistant Director of the YWCA - Phyllis Wheatley Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Congratulations Kimberly (White) Peterman on being inducted into the Iowa Lakes Hall of Fame.
