Teegan Hunziker '07-'09

Teegan Hunziker attended Iowa Lakes Community College from 2007-2009, she will be going into the Hall of Fame for Women’s Volleyball. 

Teegan Hunziker played volleyball for Coach Scott Tschetter at Iowa Lakes Community College.  She chose Iowa Lakes because of their successful volleyball program and for the opportunity to remain close to home.  During her time at Iowa Lakes, Teegan led the team in both digs and aces her freshman and sophomore years. As a sophomore; she also led the team in kills. Teegan earned numerous honors including: 1^st Team All-Region, All-Tournament Team, and NJCAA 2^nd Team All-American as well as making the Dean’s List. 

Coach Scott Tschetter had this to say about Teegan, “Teegan was half of a dominate pair of outside hitters during her 2 years at Iowa Lakes that led the team to 2 National Tournament appearances. Teegan was a scrappy defensive player and a consistent offensive threat as well as an outstanding passer.”

Lasting memories for Teegan come from her experiences in post-season play.  She greatly enjoyed both of the National Tournament trips she was able to attend while at Iowa Lakes.  The team had a great time playing and staying in hotels.  Teegan enjoyed the time spent with her roommates who were also her teammates.  Many of these developed into lasting friendships.  Several of her teammates have children around the same age and they try to get together as families in order to stay in touch. 

After graduating in pre-exercise science from Iowa Lakes, Teegan attended Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN where she continued her volleyball career.  While there, she continued to succeed and earned several honors including:  Conference player of the week, 1^st Team All-Conference, and All-Tournament Team. 

Now Teegan owns the Dairy Queen in Oakland, Iowa but she also spends time giving back to the sport of volleyball that gave so much to her.  She coaches club volleyball and helps with the local school volleyball programs.  Teegan also has her hands full at home raising 4 children ranging in age from 7 to 3 months.

Teegan wanted to thank her parents and siblings for all of the support they have given her over the years.
