Thomas Moman '10-'12

Thomas Moman attended Iowa Lakes Community College from 2010-2012, he will be going into the Hall of Fame for Wrestling.

After graduating from high school, Thomas was considering joining the army but decided to wrestle at Iowa Lakes instead.  It was the beginning of a very successful college-wrestling career.  After qualifying for the National Tournament his freshman year, in his sophomore year Thomas earned 6th place at the National Tournament and was named an NJCAA All-American at 174lbs.  His success continued at Grand View University where he was a 2 time All-American, Team Captain, was conference champion both years, won 2 national team titles and 2 national dual titles, as well as an Academic All-American and named to the Dean’s List.

When asked about Thomas, Coach Cory had this to say, “I’ve been coaching wrestling for a total of nine years.  The reason wrestlers choose to wrestle in college and the motivation to succeed varies from athlete to athlete.  Some wrestlers only enjoy competition, some only enjoy the preparation to compete, and some only enjoy the social aspect of being on a team.  It is raise to witness someone who truly enjoys all aspects of wrestling, and I know Thomas Moman did.  He was coachable, a hard-worker, a great teammate, self-accountable, and a great ambassador for Iowa Lakes Community College Wrestling.  It was a true honor to be his coach and watch him develop as an athlete, student, and as a man.

Thomas embraced the challenge of wrestling at Iowa Lakes.  Some of his fondest memories include 30-minute wrestling sessions with Coach Cory VanGroll.  Coach Cory would hype it up quite a bit, sending texts telling Thomas to be ready for “butt-whooping.”  Thomas greatly appreciates Coach Cory and Coach Nick in their support.  They really pushed him and made him into something he didn’t know he could be.

Thomas majored in Criminal Justice while at Iowa Lakes and now works as an asset protection team leader for Target in Ames, Iowa.

Thomas would like to thank his beautiful wife Molly; his mom, Kathy Moman; his dad, Trevor Moman; his two sisters, Jackie Davis and London Borgman; and his late Grandma who passed away while Thomas was in high school.

Congratulations Thomas Moman on being inducted into the Iowa Lakes Hall of Fame.
